20 FACTS ABOUT ME

m1

I’m not normally the first to join in with social media hashtag challenges but there’s one going round at the moment that’s quite interesting and fun.

#20FACTSABOUTME

So I thought I’d take the opportunity to tell you 20 things about me, so we can get to know each other better, and I borrowed some artwork from Pinterest to make it more fun.

1 I have a degree in History & American Studies with a specialism in Medieval Monasticism, spending most of my 3 years trooping around Yorkshire with my camera visiting Cistercian Monasteries.

2 I used to collect Owls and still have an enviable collection of little owl ornaments which I will never part with – my parents once took my to a wildlife lecture on Owls where I learnt all about owl poo and regurgitation.

3 I wear Clarins L’eau Dynamisante during the day, and Chanel No5 for evenings out.

4 I love to listen to BBC Radio 4 while I’m baking.

5  I live beside the Great Orme Tramway in what used to be a Railway Workers Cottage with a gorgeous view of Llandudno from my kitchen window.

6   My favourite flowers are hellebores, tulips and sweet peas – I had ivory tulips and sweet peas in my wedding bouquet, and I grow them all in my cottage garden.

7  I am Mum to a Miniature Wire Haired Dachshund called Henry – the neighbours call him “Henry 10 Dogs” due to his big bark.

8 My favourite author is Dr John Piper of Desiring God Ministries and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed most of this books.

9 I used to play the bassoon but gave it up quickly as it was too heavy to carry around.

10 My favourite childhood summer holiday memories are at Craigenveoch Cottage, on the banks of Loch Ard playing in the woodlands, sketching the Loch and playing on the jetty.

11 My favourite place for Afternoon Tea is Bettys in York – I am at my most happy with a pot of Bettys blend tea and a toasted sultana scone.

12 I love nothing better than having a day out with my camera …. and my husband. I am a self taught amateur and have inherited a love of the camera from my Dad, who was the photographer at Rydal Penrhos School for most of his 32 year career.

13 My favourite restaurant is La Pizetta, an Italian/Spanish family outdoor restaurant in Begur with the most amazing chocolate fondant dessert. My husband and I have spent many happy holiday evenings here enjoying amazing food and wonderful ambiance.

14 My coffee of choice is black Americano, or a flat white for a treat. There’s no better place to drink it than Providero, Llandudno Junction and no better beans than roasted by Heartland.

15 I used to hate fish, due to a terrible experience as a teenager where I was forced to eat smoked haddock and practically choked on all the bones – but now I love fish, eat it most day, and especially shellfish.

16 When I was younger I wanted to be a police detective and everyone that visited our home had their fingerprints taken. I avidly read Sherlock Holmes mysteries and still love a good ‘who done it’. An evening with Morse or Lewis is an evening well spent.

17 My favourite fairytale is Peter Pan, and I still have my childhood “Nursery Peter Pan” on my bookshelf.

18 I still think Take That are the best boy band ever.

19 I don’t much like going out in the evenings, but prefer to cosy up in my sofa blanket and watch a good drama

20 The place I would most like to be right now – is Ravello, on the Amalfi Coast sitting in the Town Square, soaking up the sun, drinking iced coffee and taking in the matchless view.

So now you know a little bit more about me, and what I get up to when I’m not in the kitchen baking cakes. If you share any of my 20 favourite things – I’d love to hear from you.

Until next time ….
