Christmas down Petticoat Lane

I’m not a great fan of evenings out in the winter. Curling up by the fire with an episode of Poirot is much more appealing. But when Petticoat Lane invited me to their Danish Christmas Evening, I couldn’t get my coat and scarf on quick enough.

If you’ve been following along, you’ll know that I spend a not insignificant amount of time perusing the beautiful things in this shop. It’s simply the prettiest shop in Llandudno and if you’re visiting you must call for a nosey. If you’re local, you’ve got absolutely no excuse. It’s next but one to Cafe Nero, if that helps.

Kate and her lovely team wanted to celebrate all that is hygge about Christmas and unveil their Scandi inspired Christmas window.

We were treated to traditional sweets treats with completely unpronounceable names. And get this – Mr Petticoat, AKA Mr Andrew Russell did the baking. 3 cheers for him. Not sure how he found the time, but the results went down well. If you’re really interested there was Honninghjherter,  Apple aebleskiver and Vanilljekranse – and it was all delicious.

The first glass of mulled wine of the season always goes down well, don’t you think?. Well, the Danish version is called Glogg, pronouced Gloog (apparently) and was very good indeed.

We were all treated to 15% off our shopping and a generous goodie bag to take home with us. I always treat us to a new decoration at Christmastime so it wasn’t hard to choose something new to hang on our little tree.

The shop was properly full of mainly ladies with the occasional male, furtively mooching through all the festive goodies while carefully balancing our glogg.

I really love evening shopping events leading up to Christmas. There’s something about walking round the shops when it’s dark and enjoying the warmth and soft lighting, in a way that doesn’t work during the daytime.

Petticoat Lane is my go-to gift shop for the ladies in my life. I don’t think I’ve ever come out disappointed. I’ve always managed to find that little something for a birthday, or a thank you gift. Everything is wrapped neatly in tissue paper and served with a warm smile.

We’ll be featuring Petticoat Lane in our Christmas Giveaway coming real soon – supporting #smallbizchristmas all the way.  Keep an eye out for that.

And if you happen to be in Petticoat Lane for the first time – tell them I sent you!

That’s all for now.

Judith xx
