If you know me at all, you’ll know that I’m ever so slightly addicted to coffee.

Llandudno is brimming with coffee shops and although I’m a big fan of independent coffee houses, we spend a fair amount of time in Caffe Neros too. In my humble opinion, the best coffee shop in this area by a long way is Providero in Llandudno Junction, and we’re super excited for Providero #2 opening soon on Upper Mostyn Street. They make amazing coffee using the best Heartland beans roasted in Builder Street. If you use beans at home, you can actually buy then the same day they are roasted. How amazing is that!

As well as being deliciously satisfying and a great way to start the working day, coffee has many other purposes.

Today I want to inject some motivation into your week by encouraging you to drink coffee (or tea) …. with someone.

Only last week, I had a coffee-meet with a lovely colleague and friend. We sat in the St George’s Hotel under a bright blue autumn sky sipping large cappuccinos and enjoying the moment. We chatted about all sorts, got to know each other a little better and did our best to encourage each other in our respective business. I’m not sure how much I encouraged her, but I came away feeling truly inspired and buoyed up. Just a few words of wisdom can go a long way.

Sometimes if we work alone, or in a very small team, we are so engrossed in our work that it’s hard to look up!

Getting a friend or colleague to help us with a fresh perspective is really helpful. Now it might mean some home truths and constructive criticism – which we all should be prepared to take from those we trust and respect, but equally it might be a real encouragement that we are on the right path after all.

For me I try and book a coffee-meeting with 2 or 3 different people every month. It might just be a catch up, it might be someone I am keen to work with, it might be someone whose opinion I value and whose brain I’d like to pick.

It’s just a hour, it’s just a coffee – but it will be rewarding and might take you to a place you hadn’t expected, or lead you to an opportunity that you never would have found otherwise.

And if nothing else, it will mean you’ve got to know someone a little bit better  – and that’s always a good thing.

So get your diary out and see who you can have coffee with this week.
