My December Goals

1st December might just be my favourite day of the year. It’s the first day of Advent with all the expectation that brings. Mince Pies and mulled wine. Twinkly lights and festive movies. Robbie Williams has even dropped a Christmas album. Give me all the December things. And here are a few December goals. What are yours?

Any moment now the crates will descend from the loft and all the sparkles will be released. And the mantelpiece will be adorned within an inch of it’s life. The bunting will be hung along kitchen beams. And the nativity will be happily given pride of place on our window seat.

There won’t be an actual tree for us for 2 reasons. (1) Cottage rooms are pretty small and it’s a bit of a squeeze. (2) We spend Christmas with my family in Northern Ireland (3) We just visited Chatsworth at Christmas and seen 4,357 pretty trees so they’ll keep me smiling for while.

There might be a branch though – watch this space.

I have exciting news. We’ve treated ourselves to a Samsung “the Frame” TV arriving mid December. Just in time for all the holiday movies. We’re so grateful to John Lewis & Partners Chester for gifting us the setup & installation. The Frame is brilliant for tricky spaces like our cottage lounge. We’re wall mounting the TV with it’s amazing discreet wiring, to create a bit more space in our lounge and it’ll have a nice white wood surround. Super furnishing. Not bad as December goals go. I’ll let you know how the TV engineer gets on with our solid stone walls. He He.

Simply put. I’m obsessed. But a little worried that I’ve bought so many “cinnamon and spice” candles that there won’t be enough days to burn them before it’s all over. First world problem hey? If you fancy treating yourself to one, or more, look out for my Winter Candle Guide for some tips and new brands you might not have come across.

Every tax year I promise myself I’ll get my accounts submitted in May. And every year I do it in December. So I’m thinking a hot cup of coffee and some Christmas carols will help it along. Maybe. Have you done yours yet?

What are your December goals? Maybe it’s just to get through to January in one piece. Ho Ho. I’d love to hear.

Happy Advent.
