The Small Christmas Gift Guide

Welcome to our Small Christmas Gift guide.  Will you be joining #SmallBizChristmas this year? Will you #shopsmall on #smallbusinesssaturday?

I’ve been dabbling in it for a few seasons now. Buying a few bits online from small biz friends that I know and follow.

This year I’m going the “whole hog” and buying all my gifts for family and friends from small businesses – on my local high streets, on instagram and online. It’s not that difficult really, and very enjoyable.

We’ve got 10 magical ideas for you this Christmas. 10 perfect places where you can buy gorgeous gifts.

It’s over on Instagram so make sure you’re following us for updates. When you enter our #smallbizchristmas giveaway you can win the whole bundle worth £180 to keep for yourself or giveaway as gifts. Details of how to enter and win amazing free gifts on our instagram grid (@judithbondcakes)

We’ve been oohing and aaahing over Mamws Interiors for a while now, and they keep adding gorgeousness to their already swoon-worthy collection. Marcia’s designs come from the heart of rural North Wales and would be a lovely addition to any home. Candles, cushions, ceramics, rugs, blankets and her now famous bespoke lampshades. We’ve snagged one of her hand thrown ceramic candle holders for our #smallbizchristmas giveaway and couldn’t be more delighted. It takes a large size t-light, will burn for 8 hours and look magnificent on your mantelpiece.

We’re especially in love with the Bloom collection. Perfect for giving (even better for keeping). Use the code JUDITHBOND15 for a joyful 15% discount.

Last Christmas my husband bought be a pair of fingerless gloves and honestly, I didn’t have them off my hands all winter. They’re the ideal gloves to stuff in your pocket and keep your hands warm all winter long.  And the colour range is to die for. But they have a secret that you might not have heard. All their gorgeous products are made from preloved, reused cashmere knitwear. We all love cashmere but with Turtle Doves you can know you’re helping the environment as well as #smallbizchristmas.  The choice of colour is yours but we love these soft rose pinks teamed up with forest green.

When I first came across Sarah Kelly at Shark Alley (anagram if you’re wondering), I totally fell in love with her jewellery. I’ve always been a fan of brooches. Think I inherited this from my Mum who simply has the world’s largest collection of brooches dating back to the 1960s.  Sarah loves wildlife and her brooches reflect the creatures living in our gardens, woodlands and rivers.  She’s adding new designs all the time which are super hard to resist. How cute is this hand painted laser cut hedgehog created from cherry wood veneer.

Each pot of loveliness is handmade in the south of England using fresh plant based ingredients sourced from all over the world. Their shelf life is short but to be honest once you get you hands on one of their delightful products you won’t want to wait.

And if you still need to be convinced, here’s our reasons why you should join in with #smallbizchristmas.

1  It’s usually a good ethical choice (sweatshops should not be on anyone’s Christmas list)

2 It will help build your local economy (good news for everyone)

3  It will support your local community  (it’s a kind of club, so why not join in)

4   It will keep local folk in employment (yay)

5  It will keep your High Street vibrant (no more empty shops thank you)

6  You can give something handmade and original (what could be better)

7  You will get better and more personal service (remember people buy from people, always)

8 You’ll make a personal connection with “the maker” (if you watch insta-stories you might even see them making your gift)

9  You will make new friends (I’ve made loads of insta-friends, you should try)

10 You will feel all “glowey” on the inside (promise!)

Look forward to seeing you over on Instagram to share the festive love.

Judith xx
